An Evening with Barrie McDermott and Terry O’Conner

Fixtures and the calendarPublished 1 September 2009

An after-dinner evening with two retired rugby league forwards is not a fixture, and the diary listed it anyway — correctly, because the sport’s audience in the north west is built as much on speaker nights and club dinners as on matchdays.

The listing is kept as published, down to the dress-and-dinner note and a booking line that no longer answers. Rugby league on the live desk runs through Fixtures.
