Visit Manchester is the tourist board for Greater Manchester and a division of Marketing Manchester, the agency charged with promoting the city on a national and international stage. Visit Manchester promotes the city as a leading leisure, learning and business tourist destination to national and international visitors, provides strategic leadership to the tourism industry within the city-region and coordinates a number of tourism development opportunities, enabling the industry to provide a first class product to visitors.

Manchester is working to deliver a comprehensive and wide-ranging events portfolio from grass roots competition to world championship status. In 2008, Manchester was named the best ‘Sports City’ in the world for its successful hosting of six international sports events this year, including three world championships. We are now responding to challenges and opportunities arising from the ‘Decade of Sport’ to build on the momentum created by ‘Manchester World Sport 08’.
