Manchester sport, ground by ground

Press archive

Sport businessPublished

The press archive holds the releases the programme sent to media: squad announcements, public endorsements of the city’s bid, and the short results notes that followed a weekend of competition.

They are kept in the order they went out, newest first, with the original wording untouched — a release edited afterwards is worth nothing to anyone trying to trace what was claimed and when. Several survive as the only public record of an event that never acquired a results page of its own, which is the reason this section is linked rather than folded away. What the desk publishes now goes out through Newsroom; the longer pieces, where a claim gets tested rather than announced, are in Analysis.
