Britain’s Best, Battle in Manchester

The newest Olympic sport comes to Manchester on the 8th and 9th of August, as Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield hosts two rounds of the British Cycling National BMX Series. The racing promises to be explosive as the best riders in the country battle it out for victory on the day and precious points for the series title.

With competitors ranging from 4 to 45+ there’ll be plenty of action to watch and an electric atmosphere as families mingle with clubs and teams to cheer on their favourite riders.  The Platt Fields BMX Track has large jumps and tight banked corners which will make the racing intense and exciting – BMX is the most spectacular and spectator friendly cycling discipline, with eight riders a time taking on the track and each other.

Manchester BMX Club Chairman Pete Taylor said of the event; “We’re very proud to have been chosen to host the National Series and have worked hard to show off how good the Platt Fields track is. It gives us a great opportunity to promote the sport to the rest of Manchester”

Riders will be practicing from 11am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday, with racing all afternoon on both days.  There will be trade stalls and refreshments onsite. For more information, please visit the Manchester BMX Club website at www.manchesterbmx.co.uk or email
