Privacy policy
This is a reading site. There is no account to create and no newsletter to join, so there is very little about you for the site to hold. One page carries a form — the message form on the contact page — and what it sends is set out below.

The form on the contact page
The form takes what you type into it: your message, and the name and e-mail address you give so that an answer can go back. Nothing else is read from your browser, and the fields are not pre-filled from anywhere. It is used to answer the message and for nothing else: no mailing list, no profile, no passing on to anyone who is not answering you. Writing is voluntary, and the e-mail address at the foot of this page does the same job if you would rather not use a form.
The form itself is a file loaded from fortunida.com, which runs it for us and passes the message to the same desk mailbox. That file is the only script on this site fetched from anywhere else, it runs on that one page, and it carries no advertising and no tracking. A message is kept while the query is open and deleted once it is answered; to have one deleted sooner, write to [email protected] and say what to look for.
What the server records
Like any web server, the one serving these pages writes a log line for each request: the address requested, the time, the response code, the browser’s user-agent string and the IP address it came from. Those lines are used to find broken pages and to count traffic in aggregate. They are not matched against anything else and are not sold.
Cookies
The notice at the foot of the page writes a single value into your browser’s local storage so that it does not appear again on the next page. It holds the word “1” and nothing else. Clearing your browser data removes it.
No advertising or profiling cookies are set by this site, and no advertising or analytics script runs on any page. The one external file is the message form described above, on the contact page.
Links that leave the site
- Articles link to regulators, governing bodies, statistics providers and news sources. Once you follow a link, that site’s own policy applies, not this one.
- Some links are commercial. Where a page carries a paid link or a sponsored placement, it is marked in the page.
- Photographs are hosted here, not hot-linked, so viewing a picture makes no request to any other site.
Archive pages
Pages from the 2008–09 programme are reproduced as they were published. Where they named a member of the public, a personal e-mail address or a direct telephone line, that detail has been removed; names in a published press release or a job title are kept, because the release is the record.
Asking for something to be removed
Write to [email protected], naming the page and what should go. Requests about a photograph, a personal detail on an archive page or a server log entry are all handled at that address.
