Live Sports At Spinningfields

Fixtures and the calendarPublished

A free screen in a city-centre square is the cheapest sports venue a council can put on, and this entry is the archive’s only example of one — a summer of screenings in an office-district plaza, with a film night on the quiet weekday.

It belongs in a sporting diary for the same reason a stadium does: on the right afternoon it is where the crowd actually is. How a city handles those crowds is the subject of Matchday.

Spinningfields is screening the very best of live sport this summer at Screenfields in Hardman Square. Free sport screenings include The Ashes and the Johnnie Walker championship. Alternatively come and join us for Film Night on Thursday. Free again and no need to book! Full listings and schedule of events at the website above.

Kick-off times move. Dates in the archive are the dates as published in 2008–09.
